On Tuesday, February 21, 2023, Delaware Technical Community College recognized Mr. Donald Baker II at an Honoree Celebration as part of its Black History Month events. Baker is the Chief Executive Officer of Forum to Advance Minorities in Engineering, Inc. (FAME), and has built a reputation for tackling the root causes of social issues including hunger, poverty, social/racial injustice, and education. The arts also became an important passion. He has served as a change agent for several institutions statewide, nationally, and internationally.

Since 1998, Delaware Technical Community College's Stanton and George Campuses have been celebrating Black History Month by honoring a member of the community for his/her outstanding personal and professional achievements. The College selects individuals who have made significant contributions to the community and have made an impact on improving the quality of life throughout the State.

During the event, tributes were presented from various legislators and representatives, including U.S. Representative Lisa Blunt-Rochester, who commented that she was proud that Delaware Tech was honoring someone who was helping to prepare for the future. "You are planting the seeds and we are seeing the results already," she told Baker.

Baker thanked the audience and his family for attending and the College for hosting the event. "It is my hope and my dream that we recognize that people did the work not just in February but all year long," he said.

About Donald Baker II:
