On February 18, 1930, Ted Freeman was born. On February 18, 2014 – on what would have been his eighty-fourth birthday – Delaware Tech dedicated the Theodore C. Freeman Powerplant Education Building. Although his life was tragically cut short, the story of a local boy who achieved his dream of becoming an astronaut continues to inspire those involved in aviation today. Full Story

GEORGETOWN - Delaware Tech will host a day of elegant fashion and pre-holiday shopping on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013.  The Saturday Before the Season event will include the College’s sixth annual Fashion Show, as well as a unique shopping opportunity – The Village Shoppes, which will offer visitors the opportunity to peruse a collection of local boutiques and restaurants under one roof. GEORGETOWN – Community leaders, educators, businesspeople and elected officials will join together to raise public awareness regarding current economic issues at the 20th Anniversary Sussex County Today & Tomorrow Conference. The event will be hosted on Wednesday, Oct. 30, from 7:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Carter Partnership Center at Delaware Technical Community College in Georgetown. Full Story

DOVER – Four Delaware Technical Community College students ventured to NASA Johnson Space Center’s Ellington Field in Houston to conduct experiments aboard the “Weightless Wonder” aircraft this summer. Delaware Tech is the only institution representing Delaware in this study, joining institutions such as Yale, MIT, Carnegie Mellon and more. Full Story

GEORGETOWN - Delaware Technical Community College received a significant boost to its new Food Safety associate degree program as Perdue, through the Arthur W. Perdue Foundation, awarded a $200,000 grant to help create a state-of-the-art lab and launch a unique curriculum this fall at the Jack F. Owens Campus in Georgetown. Full Story
