Associate Degree Program


Delaware Tech’s Elementary Education degree will prepare you to transfer to a four-year college or university to complete your bachelor’s degree and become certified to teach in an elementary school. 

A focus on educational strategies is an important aspect of our program. You will also have the opportunity to interact with children in a classroom setting through observation and service learning experiences. When you graduate, you will have learned instructional strategies that support the Delaware common core standards for reading, writing, and mathematics.

This program is offered at the Dover, Georgetown, and Wilmington campuses.

In this program, you will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to prepare you to transfer to a four-year college or university to become a certified K-6 public school teacher.

What You Will Earn

The average competitive starting salary, upon completion of a bachelor's degree required to teach, is $35,854.

Core Curriculum Competencies

The Core Curriculum Competencies listed below identify what you, as an associate degree graduate, will be able to do upon completion of your degree, regardless of your major. You will acquire these core competencies through your general education courses (i.e. English, math, etc.) and your program of study courses.

  3. Work effectively in groups of people from diverse backgrounds.
  4. Demonstrate ethical and professional understanding and conduct.

Pursuing A Bachelor’s Degree?

This is a Connected Degree program, which enables our graduates to transfer as juniors to our partner four-year institutions in the region, offering a smooth transition to working toward a bachelor’s degree.
