Connected Degree

Elementary Education

to Elementary Education (Grades K-6)

An opportunity to gain an associate degree from Delaware Tech and a bachelor's degree from Wilmington University.

YOUR PATH TO A BACHELOR'S DEGREE

Delaware Tech has established agreements with four-year colleges and universities that connect Delaware Tech associate degree programs with bachelor's degree programs to create smooth transfer opportunities for you. These Connected Degree programs enable you to complete your associate degree and then transfer to a four-year degree program as a junior.

THE CONNECTED DEGREE 2 + 2 CURRICULUM

Delaware Tech's associate degree program in Elementary Education prepares students to transfer to a four-year college or university to complete a bachelor's degree and become certified to teach in an elementary school. A focus on educational strategies is an important aspect of the program. Students have the opportunity to interact with children in a classroom setting through observation and service learning experiences. Graduates will have learned instructional strategies that support the Delaware common core standards for reading, writing, and mathematics. Wilmington University's Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education K-6 is a Licensure/Certification Program. Admission into this program requires students to provide copies of the complete score report (including subtests) of the ETS PRAXIS Core Series for Educators, showing scores at or above Delaware minimum requirements for each subtest. All teacher preparation candidates are required to have Delaware passing scores on all sections of PRAXIS II for entry into Student Teaching. Registration for Student Teaching also requires a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher, plus satisfactory completion of all placement prerequisites. Graduation Requirements: 126 credits minimum & 45 credits upper (300-400) level & 45 credits residency at Wilmington University, and meeting Delaware minimum score requirements on the PPAT (PRAXIS Performance Assessment for Teachers)
