Return to College Helps Build Successful Career and Life
David Hall took another shot at college when he was in his late 20s because he realized he wasn’t satisfied, thought he could do more and was contemplating changing careers. He had attempted college a few times before, but didn’t put in the required time or effort.
“I wasn’t ready,” he simply stated. But this time he knew he needed to make it work.
“I was going through a lot of personal change and I knew I wasn’t where I wanted to be at that time,” he said. “I wanted to build a life.”
David enrolled on the Wilmington (now George) Campus to take some general classes to get reacquainted with college, but one class - data processing – truly intrigued him and felt like a natural fit.
“During that first semester, that class and instructor changed my whole perspective on the computer industry,” he said.
Finding something he enjoyed and found fulfilling, David earned his degree, landed a job and embarked on a lifelong career that included eight years as a Chief Technology Officer before assuming his current position as Executive Vice President of Professional Services for CompuCom. In his role at CompuCom he manages high-end technical and consulting services with a variety of Fortune 500 companies.
David has served on several technical advisory boards and held advisory positions for companies like Intel Security, Cisco Networking, Microsoft and Symantec. This year he will join the College’s computer technology advisory board.
“I have always felt the success of my career was largely due to the inspiration I received from Delaware Tech,” said David. “The time I spent at the school instilled the discipline, confidence and skills I needed to succeed.”
