Nursing Graduate Named to Alaska's Top Forty Under 40
Jaime Eggert, RN, MSN, CNML, has been honored for her professional success in Alaska by being tabbed an Alaska Journal of Commerce's 2019 Top Forty Under 40, but she acknowledges the educational foundation for that success is firmly rooted in Delaware.
"I chose Delaware Tech because of how strong I knew the nursing program was," she said. "There is a standard of excellence for their students which helped me be where I am today."
Eggert, who graduated summa cum laude in 2008, is a clinical nurse manager for patient care resource services, vascular access team, resource pool, providence early assessment team, discharge lobby, and observation unit at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska.
She moved to Alaska in 2011 due to her husband's military assignment, but Eggert's family still lives in Delaware and she remains connected with those who influenced her during her time at Delaware Tech.
"I had the most amazing instructors, and I still keep in touch with them," she said. "The personal care and attention was awesome."
Eggert was employed as a certified nursing assistant (CNA) and as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) while working toward her associate degree, and started as a registered nurse (RN) at Bayhealth Medical Center. She worked in Bayhealth's intensive care unit until her relocation to Alaska, where she made a quick impression on her new employer.
According to Eggert's Top Forty Under 40 nomination that was submitted by Providence Alaska Medical Center's chief executive officer, the healthcare facility "welcomed Jaime as a critical care nurse in 2011 and it didn't take long to discover she was a natural born leader. Her coworkers, managers and especially patients were quick to appreciate and applaud her knowledge, skills and thoughtful take-charge approach to problem-solving."
Eggert shares that Delaware Tech prepared her for the world of nursing, which has led to a flourishing and award-winning career.
"I had such an incredible experience in my time at Delaware Tech," she said. "It provided me an amazing foundation, and I am eternally grateful."
