Delaware Tech Grad Comes Full Circle

When Dr. Sharon Mossman was looking at colleges, she had three criteria in mind: it had to be close to home, affordable and lead to a career in the dental field. She found a match in Delaware Tech where she studied Dental Assisting and then Dental Hygiene. Dr. Mossman excelled at her studies, earning awards for being the top student in both programs. After graduation, she began to work in the field, while continuing her studies at West Chester University in Health Science and Education. Student teaching brought her back to Delaware Tech, which led to a part-time and then full-time job as a clinical instructor in the Dental Health Center.

While pursuing her advanced degrees in Higher Education Administration and Educational Leadership, she continued her rise at the College, becoming a second year clinical supervisor and eventually Assistant Dean of Student Affairs. Dr. Mossman continues to practice dental hygiene and is also active with volunteering, academic research and writing, and with the College’s alumni association, serving as President of the Stanton and George Campuses chapter.

Dr. Mossman credits the hands-on learning and tough, but caring faculty with her success, along with her own drive to keep learning and advancing. To fellow alumni, she encourages getting involved with the College and help the college to stay on top of industry trends and skills. “There is always a place for you at Delaware Tech.”
