Delaware Technical Community College officially celebrated the completion of a 13,500-square-foot Automotive Center of Excellence (ACOE) on the College's Jack F. Owens Campus in Georgetown on Wednesday. This facility, along with the College's new training center in Middletown, houses the first diesel mechanic training program in the region.

It turns out, going home was just what Juwan Mullen needed to do, and was meant to do.

Mullen, a 2014 human services graduate, recently returned to his hometown and accepted a position as school social worker at Seaford High School. He provides wraparound care for students, including short counseling, check ins, and providing and arranging transportation or other resources.

The Delaware BioScience Association (Delaware Bio) is building on its support for Delaware Technical Community College students enrolled in the Biological Sciences or Biotechnology departments. Delaware Bio established a scholarship program in 2018 and is a longtime supporter and partner of Delaware Tech.

The rainy weather stopped and wet pavement cleared up just in time for 340 participants to compete in the eighth annual Run, White & Blue 5k/1-mile Walk, held at the Owens Campus in Georgetown on Sept. 9. Proceeds from the event benefit scholarships for veteran and first responder students.

Delaware Technical Community College participated in the 24th Coastal Cleanup in New Castle County and in Sussex County on Sept. 11. Delaware Tech volunteers cleaned up areas at Augustine Beach and Cape Henlopen State Park. Participation was coordinated by Student Life.

For the first time since 2019, Delaware Tech’s women’s volleyball team is back in action.

The COVID-19 pandemic prevented the program from having a season in 2020. But this year the team is loaded with new talent and ready to take the court.

After winning the NJCAA Region 19 and Mid-Atlantic District tournaments, and finishing with a great showing at the NJCAA Division II National Championship Tournament, the Delaware Technical Community College softball team continues to bring in the top student-athletes in Delaware and the surrounding area.

The hard work Delaware Technical Community College's athletics department and student-athletes put in during the 2020-2021 school year has paid off. The College had 12 student-athletes from its three spring sports teams receive National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) honors for their academic achievements in the 2021 season.

Delaware Tech has received a grant from Bank of America that will expand the College's community health worker program and provide the opportunity for 20 students to complete the program free of charge.
