Healthcare Courses - Rapid Workforce Training

Delaware Tech was awarded funding to provide free workforce training in the area of healthcare. The below schedule will be offered at campuses statewide between October 2021 and March 2022. This free training program was made possible by a Department of Labor grant intended to help the unemployed and underemployed. Seating is limited.

Candidates must attend an information session and meet eligibility requirements, which include:

  • Availability for regular attendance each day
  • Possession of a Social Security card
  • Proof of birthdate and US residency
  • The desire to work full-time

Other eligibility requirements will be discussed at the mandatory information session.

Courses are offered in a hybrid format. Hybrid programs conduct some training in an online format; with clinical and lab portions conducted in-person. Locations and times/dates will vary depending upon course requirements.

Certified Clinical Medical Administrative Assistant
This program will provide training to prepare you to handle all aspects of the medical office setting from the front office in-patient intake and scheduling, to assisting the doctor by taking vitals and drawing blood for prescribed tests. In this course, you will learn how to perform administrative duties, as well as clinical and non-clinical duties. Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to sit for the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) and the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant national exam (CMAAC). Tuition includes books, background/drug screening, uniforms, and certification exams.

Georgetown
Certified Nursing Assistant
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) students learn to safely perform basic nursing skills under the supervision of a licensed nurse in a health care facility. Communication, observation, documentation, and computer skills are incorporated to aid the student in meeting the psychological, physical, and environmental needs of the patient through theory, lab, and clinical experience. Following successful completion of this course, the student will be qualified to take the Nurse Aid Competency Examination for certification. Tuition includes books, uniform, certification exam, CPR, drug screening and criminal background check.

Phlebotomy
This course is certified by the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians (ASPT). Students are trained to perform a variety of blood collection methods using proper techniques and precautions. Classes are taught in lecture, student laboratory and through clinical experiences. ASPT certification exam will be administered at the conclusion of the program. Textbooks, background/drug screening, uniforms, certification exam, and CPR certification included.
