Meet the Faculty and Staff
Christina M. Garcia
Christina Garcia serves as a human resources specialist on the College’s Dover campus. Garcia graduated from Delaware Tech with an associate degree in office administration technology in 2008. She worked part-time at another university while enrolled as a student at Delaware Tech, where she was able to eventually find her passion after trying out a couple different majors along the way. Garcia has since received her master’s degree in human resource management and her future plans are to remain in the human resources field to continue to grow in her career.
Q: What is your favorite thing about working at Delaware Tech?
“Since I work in Human Resources, I get to meet so many people! Everyone is always so friendly and helpful!”
Q: Why was it important for you to work at Delaware Tech?
“I am a graduate of Delaware Tech. I graduated with an associate degree in office administration technology in 2008. As a graduate of the College, Delaware Tech gave me the foundation to not only continue my education but also grow in my career.”
Q: What did you do before working at Delaware Tech?
“I was working part time at another university while I was a student at Delaware Tech. Taking classes at Delaware Tech allowed me to really figure out what I was interested in. I took classes in nursing and early childhood education before I found my passion. My associate degree opened so many doors for me and allowed me to continue my education, which lead me to human resources.”
Q: Describe your first day at Delaware Tech. What was that experience like?
“My first day was at the Stanton Campus in the Testing Center. I started right when we opened up from winter break. I could not believe how busy the office was, but in my time there I got to know so many students and learn their stories. It was really an amazing experience.”
Q: What changes have you seen in yourself since you started working here?
“The biggest change I’ve seen in myself is my confidence. Working in human resources is challenging but also rewarding. As I continue my career in HR, I am more confident in my knowledge of policies and procedures.”
Q: What hobbies or interests do you have outside of the College?
“I love spending time with my family, watching movies, and playing board games.”
Q: Do you have a favorite memory from your time at Delaware Tech thus far?
“My favorite memory was the holiday office decorating contest a few years ago. Each department worked so hard on their office areas. It was great to see everyone’s creativity and effort.”
Q: What’s something people may not know about you?
“I have a master’s degree in human resource management and I have worked at Delaware Tech for almost 12 years. In my time at the College, I have worked at the Stanton Campus, the Terry Campus, and the Office of the President.”
Q: What are your future goals?
“Personally, I would love to travel overseas. Professionally, I would love to stay in HR and continue to grow.”
