Claude Thomas
Claude Thomas is a criminal justice instructor at the Stanton campus. Prior to working at Delaware Tech, Thomas worked in various positions and areas of law enforcement and policing, where he says he was privileged to play a pivotal role in local, state, federal, and international investigative and prosecutorial endeavors. He enjoys bringing this breadth of experience to his students at Delaware Tech.
Q: What is your favorite thing about working at Delaware Tech?
"Students!! It is incontestably an honor and privilege to help advance and enhance the minds of students. Witnessing their intellectual and emotional growth while understanding instructors' role in its development is rewarding and gratifying."
Q: Why was it important for you to work at Delaware Tech?
"The importance of working at Delaware Tech centers around the school's rich history of providing educational opportunities to all Delawareans, particularly socially, economically, and educationally disadvantaged students. Additionally, it is important for me to be in a position to share multiple years of uniquely diverse personal and professional experiences to enhance and broaden students' social and educational development and help in the facilitation and maturation of their confidence. A confident student is a successful student."
Q: What changes have you seen in yourself since you started working here?
"I have an enhanced appreciation for student life on and off-campus. Despite the many trials and tribulations endured by some students, their resilience is refreshing and inspiring. In turn, working here has increased my resolve to aid students in their educational and social maturation. Thus, the most significant personal change involves a greater commitment to the student-body."
Q: What hobbies or interests do you have outside of the College?
Interests include activities designed around education as opposed to incarceration:

- Eliminating school-to-prison pipeline

- Youngest of nine siblings
- Homeless in high school and while attending Philadelphia Community College
