Q: What does student success mean to you?
"Typically student success means how well students are prepared academically for the future and the ability to support themselves financially after graduating. Though furthering your education and obtaining a degree should be a major goal in order to support yourself in today's society, a student's success shouldn't be defined by that academic degree. Society puts value on what degree you have and the material wealth you obtain as being successful; however I like to put more emphasis on strong character, finding purpose, and the value a student sees within as being successful. Overall student success is feeling a sense of wholeness, balance, and self-worth while accomplishing your educational goals and beyond."
Q: What is your favorite thing about working at Delaware Tech?
"Knowing that my colleagues have the same vision and heart for our students is my favorite thing. We all want to see students grow, succeed, and push for a dope future. I also like having autonomy with structure; it helps me to be creative and think outside the box."
Q: Describe your first day at Delaware Tech. What was that experience like?
"My first day was very exciting! Though I knew the challenges I had ahead of me, I was so eager to begin. Not to mention everyone was friendly and willing to help – and they still are."
Q: What changes have you seen in yourself since you started working here?
"I have seen a change in my weight (I'm offered free food all the time and I take it, thanks everyone). I've gained 10 pounds like a freshman in college. I've also seen a change in my attention to detail, which is an asset in my everyday life."
Q: Do you have a favorite memory from your time at Delaware Tech thus far?
"Yes, my favorite memory was seeing four of my high school students graduate and attend Delaware Tech and rapping (yes, rapping) with Rodney Bailey, who I just met at the time."
Q: What's something people may not know about you?
"Most people may not know I was on Family Feud under the 'Ford' family. While there, I came up with a jingle for my family to sing and we were able to sing it for Steve Harvey and he loved it!"
