Mike Snead
Public Safety Manager
Any day of the week, you can find Mike Snead around the Terry Campus in Dover with a big, friendly smile on his face. Once a New Castle County police officer, Snead came to Delaware Tech in 2013 as a state constable. Since his arrival on campus, Snead has been promoted to public safety manager and aspires to one day become the College’s director of public safety.
Q: What is your favorite thing about working at Delaware Tech?
“Being a part of a friendly team.”
Q: Why was it important for you to work at Delaware Tech?
“To help foster positive outlooks for students and employees.”
Q: What did you do before working at Delaware Tech?
“New Castle County police officer.”
Q: Describe your first day at Delaware Tech. What was that experience like?
“Confusing, but promising. I was sent all around campus in search of a staff member in OOP only to learn she was on vacation. It was pouring rain that day and Miss Joan Peterson, a former human resources technician who has since retired, was with me every step of the way.”
Q: What changes have you seen in yourself since you started working here?
“I have been more active with committees and have really become an ambassador in promoting the college.”
Q: What hobbies or interests do you have outside of the College?
“I enjoy watching TV and going on outings with my family.”
Q: Do you have a favorite memory from your time at Delaware Tech thus far?
“Yes, having the Child Development Center (CDC) children line up for high fives and fist bumps before their ride home.”
Q: What’s something people may not know about you?
“I was voted best all-around boy in 6th grade.”
Q: What are your future goals?
“Maybe to become the director of public safety for the College.”
