Erica Smith

Erica Smith came to Delaware Tech to pursue a career doing something she loves while supporting her toddler, Carson. "I want to live and work in southern Delaware once I graduate, so I chose to enroll in the Rad Tech program in Georgetown. This way, I can get hands-on experience with potential future employers and create a network as a student."

Erica knew she wanted to work in the healthcare industry in a capacity where she could help people every day. "The field of radiologic technology also offers a variety of post-graduate certifications, which allows me to continue to learn more and move up even after I graduate."

Since starting at Delaware Tech, Erica noted how much she has grown. "I have more confidence and drive to get ahead than I think I ever had in my entire life. I also have excellent planning and time management skills now since every day needs to be planned out days in advance for my life to remain balanced."

Erica advises her fellow students to not be afraid to ask for help. "Use your resources; go to your teachers or counselors and you will find most people are on your team as long as you are trying your best."

After earning her degree from Delaware Tech, Erica plans to find a full-time job in her field, get married, and buy her first home. "My dream is to always continue to learn. No matter what position I rise to, I always want to be interested in learning something new. I hope to be diverse in the field of radiography - from a tech to a supervisor to teaching college courses."
