Jared Kranz

Jared Kranz came to Delaware Tech to better himself. "Being out of school for 15 years and then coming back was difficult, but I see myself getting better in every way!"

Jared survived heart surgery at six months old and battled substance abuse. He has traveled all over the world, volunteering in Costa Rica, being detained in Honduras, crossing borders in Nicaragua during the swine flu epidemic, and so much more. "I have many more stories, but I’m late for class!"

"My perseverance, people skills, self-worth, and focus have all improved as a result of attending this institution." Jared advises other students to try and build discipline and focus on the now to plan for the future. "By working hard on menial tasks now, you're giving your future self the ability to realize dreams. Dreams take work and practice, not just wishful thinking."

Jared was nominated for Student Spotlight by his instructor, Cathleen Mulrooney. "Jared has a positive attitude, determined spirit, and plans to make a difference in our community. He is an adult student and he returned to school after serious life challenges that would've permanently derailed anyone with less grit and tenacity. He has been active in our study abroad programs and contributed tremendously to my class discussions and overall sense of community when he was my student. He has tremendous potential!"

"Wherever I go next, I will try to remain humble, serving my world for the greater good; as long as I do that, I will truly be living a dream."
