Jennifer Berg
"I knew I wanted to do more with my life. I wanted to make a difference in people's lives," said Jennifer Berg, occupational therapy assistant (OTA) student. "I knew that I could devote my time and energy (to) the OTA program and not only pave the way to a fulfilling career but be the role model I wanted my daughter to have."
Jennifer chose to pursue her OTA degree at Delaware Tech because of the flexibility, resources, and support offered. The OTA program spoke to Jennifer, as she has experienced medical trauma in her life. "I felt I could use my experience and my personal knowledge in my career to help others."
Since coming to Delaware Tech, Jennifer said she has "matured and gained experience. I was someone who always saw the negative and always looked down at myself. We are constantly learning, and I know how to harness that knowledge not only in school but in life."
Jennifer had great advice for her fellow students: "I was on academic probation years ago and now I have made the President's List. You need to focus on the goals you have set for yourself and put in the work. It will not be easy, but that's what makes it mean more. Push yourself (to) get out of your comfort zone. Ask the hard questions. Most of all, use your resources. The College provides so many resources that can help you tremendously."
After earning her associate degree from Delaware Tech, Jennifer would like to practice in occupational therapy and continue her education. She would like to work at Bayhealth Hospital's Southern Campus in Milford.
