Jennifer Rice

It was never in Jennifer Rice's plan to go away to college; she always wanted to stay close to her family. "Delaware Tech allowed me to stay local while getting an education in the dental hygiene field."

When Jennifer was younger, she was very unhappy with her smile. After braces, she felt much more confident and happy. This sparked her interest in the dental hygiene field. "I would love to help give everyone that little extra confidence they need!"

During her time at the College, Jennifer faced the huge obstacle of losing two of her grandparents, as well as an uncle and aunt. "That was the first time I’ve ever lost someone so close. However, losing them made me want to do better in school because I knew that’s what they would have wanted."

Jennifer said she has become, "more ambitious, motivated, and focused" since coming to the College. "I have continued to push myself to do better with both my clinical skills and academically to be the best version of myself." She advises other students to set weekly goals. "It allows you to live in the moment and be less stressed."

After graduation, Jennifer plans to apply to dental offices in both Delaware and Pennsylvania. She also plans to continue her education at Wilmington University. She would eventually like to be a dental hygienist in a pediatric office.
