Kaitlyn Jewell

Kaitlyn Jewell loves to learn, and it was important for her to attend a college that accommodated her full-time work schedule. She graduated with her associate degree in the spring of 2019 and went on to pursue a bachelor of science in nursing degree right at Delaware Tech.

"Not only do I enjoy the challenges of education, but education also allows me to provide the best care for my patients in this forever evolving world of medicine."

Kaitlyn has always loved caring for people, and found that nursing care made her feel the most accomplished in helping others. "Being in someone's corner when they're in such a vulnerable position is such an honor and personally satisfying feeling."

Losing her grandmother, who was her best friend, during her last semester of nursing school proved to be very difficult for Kaitlyn. "Had it not been for my wonderful family and amazing instructors allowing me time to cope with the loss while giving me the motivation to keep moving forward, I don’t know that I would have been so successful!"

Kaitlyn advised other students to invest in themselves and their studies. "Acknowledge that things can be very hard, but keep pushing on! Anything that is worth pursuing won’t be easy. There is definitely light at the end of the tunnel."

After graduating with her bachelor of science in nursing degree, Kaitlyn would like to continue on for her master's degree and maybe pursue an educational path to teach aspiring nurses. She would love to be a flight nurse.
