Ke'Asia Skinner

Ke'Asia Skinner, a proud first-generation college student, always enjoyed helping others, which prompted her family to suggest nursing as a potential career path.

After reviewing her options, Ke'Asia chose Delaware Tech for its reputable nursing program and smaller class sizes. "I wanted to have a smaller class size, because it makes it easier for me to learn challenging material."

Since beginning her studies at the College, Ke'Asia has noticed positive, personal changes. "I've become more mature and confident in both my knowledge and in myself.'

Ke'Asia finds a great source of inspiration from her mentors, Dr. Susan Lewis, Dr. Sandryn Taylor, and Ms. Ann Gioia. "All three of these women have fostered a great learning environment and given me the reassurance in my knowledge and confidence to care for my patients. They encourage questions, which is vital for learning in the medical field."

To help other students during their time at Delaware Tech, Ke'Asia suggests finding people with the same classes and interests and becoming friends. "This helps with organizing study groups to help each other with course material."

Following graduation, Ke'Asia plans to work full-time either in the operating room or as a pediatric nurse while furthering her education.
