Kisha Mann

Kisha Mann, a cardiovascular sonography student, wanted to make a change in her life, leading her to enroll at Delaware Tech. She chose the cardiovascular sonography program because she has a personal connection: "I want to be able to help people like myself with heart defects."

After she had emergency open heart surgery, she felt even more motivated to keep going. "I had to have emergency heart surgery and I was nearing the end of the semester. I was very upset about having to take time off and worried about my grades, but the college was understanding of my situation and now I am back on track and mostly healed."

Kisha has gained confidence since coming to Delaware Tech. "I'm stronger and smarter than I thought; for a long time, I didn't think I would be able to make it through school, but I'm here and doing better than I thought!" She advises students to persevere and "keep trying. There are going to be times when it may be difficult, or you may want to quit, but just keep going. It's okay to reach out to someone to talk about your struggles; just keep moving forward."

After graduating from Delaware Tech, Kisha would like to start her career as a cardiovascular sonographer. She wants to work at a children's hospital.
