Megan Russo
It was important for Megan Russo to come to college because she wants to expand her knowledge and further her career in the world of medicine. "College teaches you so much more than just education – it teaches life skills, patience, and perseverance."
Megan came to Delaware Tech to study nursing because she wanted to attend an outstanding nursing school. "I love that it's a close knit community that helps their students succeed and excel, not only in education but in life and eventually a career." She chose nursing because she is fascinated with medicine. "Medicine is never black and white; it is case specific. There is always room for growth and there are so many different avenues of nursing to explore."
Megan advised students to talk to their instructors and fellow students from their classes. "I have learned that finding a really great group of friends who want you to succeed and see you do your best has helped tremendously. I reached out to the tutoring center many times and they were always very helpful and knowledgeable, and, most of all, extremely kind. Use the resources Delaware Tech provides, but most importantly, communicate with your instructors."
Megan remembers her favorite class: Principles of Microbiology with Dr. Buoni. "I am sort of a science nerd to begin with, but he made learning so much fun and broke it down to a level we could understand and retain. He is so smart and knowledgeable in his field and it shows and his enthusiasm for education and science is inspiring."
After graduating from Delaware Tech, Megan plans to pass her NCLEX and obtain a job in the nursing field. She will apply for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at Delaware Tech so she can further her education in preparation for becoming a nurse practitioner. "I would love to eventually become a nurse practitioner in the critical care/trauma area."
