Rocky Jurado
Aspiring teacher Rocky Jurado came to Delaware Tech to better himself and, in turn, help others. "We all go through chapters in our lives that make us reconsider the direction we are heading. I believe we all have a goodness within to share with others. I felt it was important to educate myself to share my knowledge with others, and the only way to do it was to seek help. Thanks to Delaware Technical Community College, I am achieving my dream."
Rocky has faced many challenges during his time as a Delaware Tech student. "Managing a busy work schedule and being a single dad isn't easy, but I knew I needed to move forward for everyone around me. English isn't my first language, but I don't make that an excuse for failure; instead, I make that my motivation fuel to keep going."
Becoming a Delaware Tech student has changed Rocky in many ways. "I can hold an educated conversation with anyone about many topics. I see life with different eyes. I can think critically before I speak. Delaware Tech has elevated me mentally and personally to a level I wasn't aware I could reach."
Rocky advises his peers to "be persistent and always ask for help. The only wrong question is the one you don't ask. Set small goals, don’t procrastinate, and enjoy the ride."
After graduating from Delaware Tech, Rocky plans to continue his education at either the University of Delaware or Wilmington University. He would like to become a paraprofessional and start working in an elementary school.
