Childcare
Welcome to the Delaware Tech Child Development Center. Our mission is to provide care and education for children of Delaware Tech students, faculty and staff, and the community, based on available openings. In addition to providing care for young children from infancy through school age, we provide learning opportunities for the students in the Education Department under the supervision of qualified professionals. Our Child Development Center serves as a model and a community resource for excellence in early childhood education.
We Believe:
- Each child should be treated as an individual, with kindness and respect.
- Each child is a unique individual who will develop at his or her own pace.
- Children learn best through play.
- Through active involvement with the environment, children will attempt to make sense of the world around them.
- Children are active learners who are progressing through a sequence of development that proceeds in a predictable way towards great complexity, organization, and internalization.
- The teacher’s role is to assess the child’s knowledge and abilities and plan activities that generate new understandings.
Our Curriculum:
- Provides a child-centered environment
- Features developmentally appropriate activities and experiences
- Encourages children through active involvement, meaningful experimentation, and positive reinforcement
- Creates activities that match the diverse physical, cultural, social-emotional and intellectual needs of the children
- Develops independence, cooperative behavior, and caring for others
- Fosters a positive self image
- Partners with parents to provide a well-rounded education
Learning Experiences include:
- Language arts
- Social-emotional wellness
- Creative arts
- Physical health and development
- Nutrition
- Science
- Math readiness
All our facilities are fully licensed by the State of Delaware Office of Child Care Licensing (DELACARE)
